The Rice Boi Dream Team; Tony Kelly, Elyza Molloy and Mitch Smith came with a brief that can undo even the most seasoned designer.

“We want you design a bar. A proper dive bar. It has to feel well worn, like it’s been there for twenty years… on the day it opens.”

Combining newly fabricated items with second hand furniture, artwork and bric-a-brac, reusing lighting and joinery from previous fit-outs and directing trades and artisans by unorthodox means we delivered a fit-out that certainly hit the brief.

Farrago Interiors were responsible for construction, joinery and managing trades. We’ve built a strong relationship over the years which allows us to candidly and confidently work through unforeseen issues and get on with the delivery - a valuable situation when taking on an unorthodox project.

Obscure objet d’art, mismatched timber stools, hectic neon signs, reclaimed timber windows and some well layered aerosol and marker bombing work to create a dark, grimy and moody space inviting punters to kick on after dinner with cocktails and tap beer to a live DJ.

Head on up to Rice Boi Upstairs at The Wharf Mooloolaba and experience it for yourself… and be ready to join a queue.
